One of Cairo's biggest districts, and one of its best connected.
The district
Nasr City is one of Cairo's largest districts and one of its widest in price. It is divided into numbered districts, each with its own feel: near Abbas El Akkad and Makram Ebeid it is busier and a little dearer for the shops and restaurants, while inner districts like the 7th and 8th are quieter.
Rent can double from one part of Nasr City to another, so the sub-area matters to a shortlist as much as the budget does.
Who lives here
A mix: middle-income families, students near the universities, and people working locally or in Heliopolis. Small flats are in high demand before the academic year starts.
Getting around
Metro Line 3 stops at Cairo Stadium, El Ahram and Kolleyet El Banat, and Makram Ebeid and Abbas El Akkad are thick with transport. Heliopolis and the Ring Road put New Cairo and the airport within relatively quick reach.
